For Professional Football Player, Cam Jurgens, an Exmark Mower is a Family Affair
Jurgens’ Beatrice, Neb. roots run deep within the company
When professional football player, Cam Jurgens, bought his first home, there was really no question which brand of mower he’d choose to maintain his lawn. He owns an Exmark Lazer Z zero-turn mower, just like his parents and his grandparents.
In fact, for three generations now, the Jurgens family has been an important part of the Exmark family. Cam’s grandma, Karen, was the first full-time female production line employee at Exmark in 1986, where she worked until 2011. Today, Cam’s father, Teddy, is a welder at Exmark, in addition to farming full-time.
Exmark Director of Marketing, Jamie Briggs, said the Jurgens family has been a part of Exmark for nearly the entire company’s 40-year history.
“All of us here at Exmark have watched Cam grow into the incredible athlete and person he is today,” Briggs said. “We’re proud to be able to support him as he transitions from his college career at the University of Nebraska to professional football and the next phase of his life as a homeowner.”
Jurgens says that the work ethic instilled in him by his family is the number one key to his success. “On the farm, there’s something to do every day,” Jurgens said. “It’s not like a Monday through Friday deal. Seeing that from my dad–he’s a full-time welder at Exmark, and a full-time farmer.”
“My grandma worked at Exmark, so growing up we always had an Exmark mower,” Jurgens added. “I just bought my first house, and stepping back and realizing I’m a homeowner, and I have a yard with grass that I get to take care of.”
“It’s incredible to have this piece of machinery that my dad helped build, from the company my grandma worked at forever and helped build into what it is today. It’s a big part of the Beatrice community, and it’s really cool to now be a part of that and give back and work with Exmark. It’s pretty much an honor for me.”
