Updates seek to improve route mapping and increase mower responsiveness
BEATRICE, Neb. – Looking to refine and expand the performance of its innovative autonomous commercial mower –– the Turf Tracer® with XiQ Technology –– Exmark has released a number of updates to the machine’s operating system.
According to Exmark Autonomous Program Manager, Jeremy Tate, many of the updates are based on the feedback of early adopters of the company’s innovative autonomous mower.
“As we learned more about how customers are actually using the autonomous Turf Tracer, we found a number of opportunities to increase the mower’s performance and versatility,” Tate said. “Based on the early customer feedback we’ve already heard, the updates have been very well received.”
Exmark focused the operating system updates around improving the consistency of path planning and providing quicker response to heavy cutting conditions. RTK coverage has been improved as well, and the machine now selects the best network to use automatically.
Remote stop functionality has been added to the Exmark XiQ app, eliminating the need for crews to charge and carry a separate remote stop device.
New service reminders have been incorporated into the operating system, so they now appear on the machine’s 4.3-inch color display. This makes it easier for operators to track the service needs of each machine. In addition, new Spanish and French language options have been launched both for the machine’s operating system and Exmark’s XiQ app.
Tate said the updates enable the Turf Tracer with XiQ Technology to work for a wider range of operators and mowing jobs. The updated operating system comes standard on all new machines, while existing units can quickly be updated at an authorized Exmark dealer.
First launched in 2025, the Turf Tracer with XiQ Technology combines state-of-the-art navigation and high-integrity safety systems with Exmark’s renowned Turf Tracer commercial walk-behind mower.
Exmark’s XiQ technology package integrates high-precision GNSS and RTK location technologies with ISO-certified radar detection to detect obstacles and prevent collisions. The technology makes it easy to create and store property profiles, with easy recall on any autonomous unit in a fleet. The integrated safety system offers audible and visual alarms to aid in safe operation, as well as collision avoidance, and PTO and ground drive monitoring.
An attachable StandOn platform is included, which preserves the machine’s optimum weight balance, regardless of operation mode. The flexibility of being able to operate in walk-behind, stand-on or supervised autonomous modes delivers next-level versatility and productivity for landscape maintenance crews.
Equipped with a 60-inch UltraCut Series 4 cutting deck, the Turf Tracer with XiQ delivers the Exmark Signature cut quality, while the fabricated and fully welded construction provides the long-term durability Exmark customers expect. The powerful Kohler Command Pro EFI ECV749 twin-cylinder engine sips fuel yet makes quick work of even the largest mowing jobs.
The Turf Tracer with XiQ is built on Exmark’s proven Turf Tracer chassis, so controls and overall feel will be familiar to many operators. A StandOn attachment is included to enable quick property mapping. The electric ground drive system delivers precise mower control and is powered by an engine-driven generator.
