Exmark and TURF Magazine Partner to Produce Small Business Playbook

New resource is available online or as a printed supplement to the March 2014 issue of TURF Magazine

Beatrice, Neb. (April 22, 2014) — Today, Exmark announced it has partnered with TURF Magazine on the publication of a new Small Business Playbook. It covers a range of topics important to small business owners, including budgeting, training, marketing, quality control and more.

The Small Business Playbook features leading Green industry writers including Tom Crain, Ron Hall, Suz Trusty and Patrick White, among others. Their stories tap into the perspectives of leading landscape maintenance professionals from across the country to help small business owners run their operations more efficiently and effectively.

TURF Magazine Editor-In-Chief, Ron Hall, said the experiences shared by contractors are valuable not only for start-up businesses, but also for established businesses looking to increase their bottom line.

“Most landscape maintenance professionals didn’t get into the business through a desire to be an expert on hiring or training, for example” Hall said. “But as a business grows, the needs for effective hiring and dedicated, ongoing training become much more apparent. Our aim is to give these business owners perspective that can help them understand their options and make good decisions for their business.”

Exmark Director of Marketing, Daryn Walters, said the push for continual improvement is the quality that separates the most successful, profitable businesses from the pack.

“According to Bloomberg statistics, eight out of ten people who start a business fail within eighteen months,” Walters said. “There are a number of reasons for this, but the reality is, most business failures are preventable. In the competitive environment we’re in today, it’s especially important that Green industry business owners commit to a process of continual improvement.”

The Small Business Playbook is available as a bound, stand-alone insert in the March 2014 issue of Turf Magazine. In addition, the Playbook is available for free download online in Adobe PDF format, at Exmark.com/playbook.
